There is no cost associated with the Get Ready to Run At Home Program.

What is the time and location of the Fun Run?

We will not be hosting a live event for 2021. The Fun Run will be a virtual event with parents designating a safe location for their child to run.
- How do I know if my child’s school is participating?

The Get Ready to Run At Program is not a school program. Parents will lead their children in the lessons at home. The Program is available to children in grades K-5 from areas with active Get Ready to Run Programs.
- How do I register for the Get Ready to Run At Home Program?

Go to Register my Child and complete the registration form. You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you submit. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact us at getreadytorun@bcbsms.com.
- When is the registration deadline?

Registration is open from March 8 – March 28.
- Is there an age limit for the Get Ready to Run At Home Program?

This Program is open to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade in areas with active Get Ready to Run Programs.
- Can I run with my child, and do I need to register?

Parents should not register for the Get Ready to Run At Home Program. Families are encouraged to participate, but only children in grades K-5 are eligible to register and receive a finisher’s medal and t-shirt.
- Are volunteers needed for the Fun Run?

No. The virtual Fun Run will not need volunteers for support.
- How do I track my child’s distance and run time?

Parents will use the provided Participation Form to track two practice runs for their child. We encourage parents to work with their child to set a goal and use a stopwatch, timer or running apps to track distance and time.
- When can my child complete the Fun Run?

The virtual Fun Run weekend is scheduled for Friday, May 7 through Sunday, May 9, 2021.
- Can I submit results for another race?

No. Parents should work with their children to complete the lessons and activities during the four-week program. The one-mile fun run should be completed during the virtual Fun Run weekend.
- Can I create a team for my child?

Safety is our top priority. Teams and large groups are discouraged. If you chose to allow your child to run with other children, please follow CDC social distancing guidelines.

Does my child have to run at a certain time?

The Fun Run can be completed at any time during the weekend of Friday, May 7 – Sunday, May 9, 2021.
- Do I need to provide proof of my child running?

Submitting the Participation Form each week is your child’s proof of completing the lessons for the Program. Remember, the Fun Run is based on the honor system. Be sure to tag us on social media during the virtual Fun Run weekend.
- How do I submit my child’s Participation Form?

Complete the online Participation Form each week on www.getreadytorunms.com. Use the hard copy form you received via email to track completion of the lessons and activities. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact us at getreadytorun@bcbsms.com.
- How do I obtain the Participation Form for my child?

The Participation Form will be emailed to the email address used to register your child or you can email getreadytorun@bcbsms.com to request another form. Children must be registered prior to the registration close date to receive a Participation Form.
- When will my child receive the finisher’s medal and t-shirt?

The finisher’s medal and t-shirt will be mailed to the home address used to register your child and should arrive no later than Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Please make sure this is a standardized US address, deliverable by USPS.

Will parents/guardians receive a finisher’s medal and t-shirt?

No, the finisher medals and t-shirts are only offered to registered children that have Participation Forms submitted each week of the Program.
- What happens if I forget to submit my child’s Participation Form?

The online Participation Form must be submitted on the following dates to receive the finisher’s medal and t-shirt.

- Can I exchange my child’s t-shirt if the size is incorrect?

A t-shirt exchange will not be available for 2021. If you are unsure about the size, we recommend sizing-up.
- What is the virtual Fun Run weekend?

The Get Ready to Run At Home Program would not be complete without a culminating Fun Run. After completing the lessons and activities and submitting the online Participation Form each week, registered runners will receive their finisher’s medal and t-shirt. During the weekend of Friday, May 7 – Sunday, May 9, 2021, families will select a favorable time and location to complete the one-mile Fun Run. Runners should wear their t-shirt and celebrate by posting pictures on social media with the finisher’s medal using the hashtag #GR2RMS.
- Will my child’s school receive an award for my child’s participation?

No. The Get Ready to Run At Home Program is a stand-alone program for spring 2021.

The Get Ready to Run At Home Program is a special edition of our Get Ready to Run School Program. Our goal is to return to our normal Program for the fall of 2021.
- How do I obtain a race number for my child?

The assigned race number is provided in your confirmation email upon completing registration for the Get Ready to Run At Home Program. Children must be registered prior to the registration close date to receive a race number. If you deleted your confirmation email, email getreadytorun@bcbsms.com to request your child’s assigned race number.
